Bainbridge Island Police Chief Joe Clark is aware of the Anti Inslee Protest Headed To Bainbridge Thanksgiving Day.
In response, he worked with COBI and other local law enforcement to devise a strategy for the City. Tonight he issued the following statement via Morgan Smith at the City Council Regular Business Meeting.
"We are aware of an open event advertised on social media for three dates beginning Thursday, November 26th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm and again on Friday and Saturday from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. This event is intended to voice opposition to the Governor’s most recent restrictions related to the on-going pandemic. Their intent is to demonstrate in front of the Governor’s private residence. There does not appear to be a march included as part of the event; however, participants will likely make use of parking in the Winslow area and walk to the neighborhood.
We have been coordinating our response with the Washington State Patrol and other Kitsap County Law Enforcement. There will be a uniform presence to ensure public safety and manage traffic in the vicinity. We have also increased patrol in the downtown area. While the turnout is expected to be lower than some recent events, we will have the resources available to respond as needed. We have responded to some inquires from the neighborhood and will conduct outreach ahead of the event to answer any concerns."
