City Manager Morgan Smith gave an update tonight on the City's Free Drive Thru COVID-19 testing site at tonights Regular Business Meeting of the City Council.
The City of Bainbridge Island first started up the free COVID testing site on November 4, 2020 with a capacity to do 24 tests per day, three days per week.
The appointments were quickly booked out for weeks with no openings. In response, the City made some necessary adjustments to meet the need and were able to add eight more appointments to each day they deliver service. 24 Nose swabs a day turned into 32.
From COBI COVID Website -- **Nov. 16 COVID-19 test site update** As of Nov. 16, the City has added eight appointments for each day the testing site is open. There is now additional availability in November.
As documented on Wake Up Bainbridge, reporter Sal DeRosalia registered the day the site went live and took a test that first week. It was a quick and painless process that he documented with a drive thru video. You can check that out here.
In one of her final City Manager Report's, Morgan Smith told the Council and general public that to date, COBI had issued 317 individual tests. Of those 317 tests, results were back for about 285. Of those, there have been 4 positive test results.
The City Manager made a point to mention the volunteers and staff that have worked together to help provide this valuable testing in this unprecedented time.
