Winslow Hotel Controversy Heads Into the Final Stretch.

The year long controversy about the size and scope of a multi-use 87-room hotel and event center at 251 and 253 Winslow Way is reaching the final stages and although the Planning Commission soundly rejected the hotel plans on numerous grounds, the Director of Planning has recommended to the Hearing Examiner that the project be allowed to proceed with several conditions and covenants.

January 23rd at 7:00AM at City the public will have a chance to comment on this at City Hall. Here is a 45 page report prepared by the Planning Department and signed off on by Heather Wright the Director of Planning which is the current state of the art on the project. A citizens group who had filed an appeal regarding the SEPA application part of the applicant’s package has now been withdrawn. Wake Up Bainbridge! will have a member of the citizens group fighting the hotel, Natalia Ilyan, on the show for an interview Monday 9:30AM. What are the citizens next steps? Don’t miss it.
